Chess Set-carved in the late 19th century or early 20th century in the Orient.  The set is housed in a sumtiously padded satin box which opens out to provide a large chess playing board.

Every piece is completle and in immaculate condition.  There are no chips, no splits and no repairs. All Pieces are carved in the greatest detail in Ivory with the coloured  Ivory pieces stained red.

height of:- King - 18cm.  (6.1/4")approx.  Queen - 11cm. (4.1/4").  Bishop - 6.5cm. (4")approx.  Knight - 8.5cm. (3.1/2").  Castle - 10cm. (4").  Pawn - 6cm. (2.3/8").

All pawns of each side are different and carry differing impliments. The Castles flying flags and armed with a canon, are mounted on Elephants.

The beautiful wooden Box/Board when opened out measures 51cm x 51cm (20"x20").  The individual square size is 5.75.x5.75cm. (2.1/3").  The Box depth is 5cm open; when closed 10cm.
