English Silver Lobster and Nut Crackers; hallmarker - London 1840, with Young Victoria's Head.
The pair of handles pivot on either side of a central silver wedge, one side of the wedge being wider than the other - thus the handles can be pivoted to provide either a wide apperture for lobster or a smaller apperture for cracking nuts.
All three moving parts carry hallmarks, although some are a little more rubbed than others -see photoes.
Length of handles when closed - 5.1/2". When open to 180degrees - 11".
